By Brainforest

Under the VERDIR project, funded by RRI and implemented by the Brainforest–MINAPYGA–KEVA consortium, a workshop serving as a national consultation framework was held in Ndéndé, in the Dola department, Ngounié province.

Organised on 13 September 2024 in the presence of the departmental council, the prefecture, Water and Forests and the local NGO Muyissi Environnement, the workshop aimed at a national exchange on community rights.

More than thirty participants

The administration, NGOs, partners, companies, local communities and indigenous peoples debated:

  • Recognition of customary and land use rights
  • The situation of CLPAs
  • The need for solid, protective legislation

The discussions led to concrete proposals for better consideration of community rights.
