In May 2026, Brainforest signed a funding agreement with the Gabon Biodiversity Conservation Fund, under the high-impact project support programme.
The support, exceeding 200 million CFA francs over two years, helps operationalise Local Management Advisory Committees (CCGL) and socio-economic development for communities living in and around the Akanda and Pongara national parks.
The project aims to strengthen local governance around protected areas while improving community living conditions.
