Agreement with FPBG for Akanda and Pongara

On 22 May 2026, Brainforest signed a funding agreement with the Gabon Biodiversity Preservation Fund (FPBG), under the high-impact project support programme.
The agreement was initialled by the administrative and financial manager, Dr Placide Aubiang Nzeh, representing the executive secretary.
Support of more than 200 million FCFA
This two-year support accompanies the project to operationalise Local Consultative Management Committees (LCMCs) and the socio-economic development of communities living in and around the Akanda and Pongara national parks.
The project aims to strengthen local governance around protected areas while improving living conditions for neighbouring communities.
