It was around this question that the panel dedicated to forest governance and the sustainable management of natural resources was structured, moderated by Ms. ONDO as part of the 3rd Congo Basin CSO Conference.
The discussions highlighted policies and practices that contribute to better forest management, while emphasizing the challenges that remain to be addressed. They also fostered reflection on the reforms needed to strengthen transparency, citizen participation, and the inclusion of the rights of local communities and indigenous peoples.
The challenge is to bring forward concrete proposals that civil society organizations can advocate collectively to decision-makers, in order to promote more equitable, transparent, and sustainable forest governance.
Preserving the Congo Basin forests cannot be limited to commitments alone. It requires courageous decisions, shared responsibility, and concrete action.
